I need an alarm but don’t know what I should get? What should I do?
Security systems should be custom designed around the layout of your house and or business. To properly protect you, ProTELEC will always make an appointment to come visit you to provide you with a free, no obligation, security evaluation and quotation. During this visit we will identify all of the areas of your home/business that should be protected, explain how our security system works, show you actual alarm devices and identify any options that you should consider.
Who will install my security system?
Only trained ProTELEC installers do the installations. They are fully trained, licensed, bonded and in uniform.
How long does it take to install?
A standard installation takes 6-8 hours but may take longer if the house or system is larger than normal. We can normally respond to a request within 5 days, depending on availability.
Do you have a warranty?
Yes, all new residential systems come with a minimum 5-year warranty. Commercial systems are warranted for one year.
Do I need to pay for the hardware up front?
You have the option of paying for your equipment in advance or by instalments. Please contact our office for more information about financing.
Will pets set off the alarm?
Not usually. ProTELEC can install 'pet immune' motion detectors that will ignore small pets.
What if I set it off accidentally?
Please contact our Monitoring Centre immediately at 1-800-563-7768. Also, remember to have your authorization code handy when you call.
Do you need to have a landline? What if I only have a cell phone?
ProTELEC can install security systems that do not require a landline to communicate with their Monitoring station.
The home I just purchased already has an alarm system installed. Can I use the equipment?
ProTELEC can monitor any existing alarm system and will show you how to operate it.
What about apartments?
Please check with your landlord first to see if they will permit the installation of an alarm system. Our Safe and Sound security system is portable and the perfect choice for rental properties.
What if I move?
First, please call our office to let us know when to stop monitoring and if we can be of service at your new home. Alarm systems can be removed and reinstalled at the new home but usually there is a greater value in selling the home with the alarm system.
What is CheckMate and CheckCare?
The CheckMate and CheckCare Safety Solution is a communication service that will contact persons who are working or living alone according to preset schedules to check on them to ensure that they are okay.
Will my home insurance company give me a discount if I get an alarm system?
Most insurance company’s give a 10 – 15% discount off your homeowner’s insurance premium if you have a monitored security system. Check with your insurance agent for details.
